The exhibition, prepared in cooperation with the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, will tell the little-known story of the friendship between photographer Josef Sudek (1886-1976) and the artists with whom he shared an interest in the landscape of northern Bohemia, especially the Erzgebirge and the Bohemian Central Mountains, from the second half of the 1940s. The most important of these was the painter, graphic artist and organiser of artistic life Emil Filla (1882-1953), whose post-war stay in Perec became one of the inspirations for Sudek's photographic trips to the region.
Other artists with whom Sudek met in northern Bohemia were the graphic artist Václav Sivko (1923-1974), whom he visited in Provodín near Česká Lípa, and the painter Bohdan Kopecký (1928-2010), who worked in the Most region in the 1950s.
