Ludmila Smejkalová’s large-format acrylics from 2023–2026 draw on the aesthetics of science fiction, film sets and futuristic visions. A skyscraper spirals up above the clouds, and other motifs in a landscape reach up to the heavens, while their ambiguous silhouettes gravitate towards the moon.

The title, Time Capsule, is one of the central devices and visual motifs in the American television series Foundation, based on the novels by Isaac Asimov. For the artist this metaphor has a personal significance, and the symbols and inscriptions on her canvases are an encrypted record of her memories, experiences, places and emotions
