Lukáš Bíba is one of the absolute best in Czech photojournalism; he is a Czech Press Photo award winner and has been associated with Cirk La Putyka since the pandemic began. That’s when he began documenting our efforts to keep culture alive, and from that moment on, he’s been with us for every important moment. And often, we didn’t even know he was there—that’s how discreet he can be. Gradually, he became an integral part of the La Putyka crew. His photos form our collective memory and serve as a mirror of everything that has taken place on and off stage in recent years.

A selection of 23 photographs from the show Okamžik (The Moment), which you can see for the last time this fall at Azyl78, shows just how far Lukáš is willing to go for a good shot. To capture a unique angle, he drew on his climbing experience, had himself suspended 14 meters above the ground, and photographed the entire performance several times directly from the air.

The series thus offers more than just a documentation of the performance; it brings a completely different dimension, a new perspective. These are his moments.
