This hands-on workshop led by studio dreiSt. (Vienna) and the StonyTellers collective (Prague) invites participants to collaborate in creating small-scale furnishings and garden installations at the Tusculum residency center in Prague. Over the course of several days, elements for a community garden—seating, storage boxes, and structures for climbing plants—will be created from recycled and reused materials. 

During the workshop, the architectural studio dreiSt. will share its experience and know-how regarding working with discarded materials. Participants will gain practical skills and inspiration regarding how to approach sustainable design for outdoor spaces. The goal is to subsequently make the space accessible to various users—including patients from the neighboring long-term care facility—and to create a freely accessible quiet zone for relaxation. 

The workshop is part of the accompanying program of the Biennale Matter of Art, and it is open to members of the public interested in participatory creation. No prior experience is required to participate in the workshop, and it is free of charge.

The StonyTellers collective’s project “In the Garden” is taking place on the grounds of the Tusculum Prague art center, which is operated by the platform Petrohradská kolektiv. The preparatory workshop is sponsored by the Prague architecture gallery VI PER in collaboration with the Vienna-based studio dreiSt. VI PER is part of the LINA platform, supported by the European Union.
