An exhibition by artist Michal Durda and his collective presents the film essay Crystaldom of Chemsex, which explores the topic of chemsex—a phenomenon that intertwines sexuality, identity, intimacy, and the use of psychoactive substances. The project originated as the artist’s bachelor’s thesis and offers a sensitive, critical, and non-stigmatizing perspective on the experiences of queer communities.

The exhibition explores the language we use to discuss these topics, how they are portrayed in the media, and what stereotypes or prejudices are associated with them. Through film, installation, and collective collaboration, it focuses on issues of closeness, addiction, identity, and social exclusion.

The program will also feature the collective performance Sex Was Never About Me, which expands on the film’s themes through live action. The performance explores physicality, cyclicality, collective movement, and the boundaries between individuality and shared experience.

The project creates a space for dialogue about the transformations of intimacy in contemporary society and addresses topics that are often reduced to sensationalism or pathology.

Both the performance and the film serve as a unique exhibition intervention within the ongoing exhibition Architecture of Repair. This time, they address the theme of repairing social norms.
