Patricia Dominguez (Chile) and Irvin Morazán (El Salvador) both share the experience of studying fine arts in NY and their artistic careers are fundamentally connected with transitions (migrations) between both different cultures and different layers or ages of one culture existing simultaneously. In their work references to topics such as ancient cosmogonies, animism or todays’ mythical thinking encounter with a sensitive reflection of contemporary “Western” discourse where all these topics are in the centre of heated debate related to so called ontological turn in anthropology and philosophy. Large section of the talk will be focused on sharing specific professional experiences with varying cultural environments, educational systems, with a variety of artistic residencies and creative grants.

Patricia Dominguez (lives in Santiago de Chile) is a visual artist and illustrator. Her multidisciplinary work combines her fascination with cultural botany, anthropology, animism and digital culture in thinking about actual relationships among the living. Irvin Morazan (lives in Richmond, Virginia) is a multidisciplinary artist born in El Salvador. He moved to New York in the 1980s as part of the Salvadoran civil war diaspora. He eventually settled in New York, and through pursuing art, went onto become the first in his family to go to college, earn a Master's degree and become a University professor.
