OPEN CALL 2026: Bohemia Farmstudio / visual art and performance

Call for submissions of art and intermedia projects for creative residencies combined with an exhibition in an independent centre for contemporary art.

Bohemia Farmstudio is located in a unique building of a farmstead from the end of the 18th century in the village of Vysoká on the border of the Kokořín Protected Landscape Area. The premises provide facilities for the creation and presentation of contemporary live art including generous exhibition spaces, a theatre hall, a large courtyard and accommodation. The place with a distinctive genius loci is particularly suitable for site-specific realizations. 

We are looking for projects of individuals and creative groups from the field of visual arts with possible intermedia overlaps. We prefer site-specific projects, i.e. realisations influenced by cultural, historical, spatial or other contexts of the place of residence. We prefer work that is not based on following trends, but rather on originality and individuality.

We offer*
- Accommodation "hotel-type" (multi-bed rooms including kitchen and bathroom. Facilities)
- Financial contribution of 1000 CZK/day
- Possibility of partial financing of material costs
- Possibility of using the material and technical facilities of Farmstudio
- Possibility of interaction and cooperation with other participants of the program
- Presentation of the artist and the work within the festival and exhibition
- Curatorial support
- Professional documentation
- It is possible to use not only the Farmstudio Gallery and the Kutloch Gallery for creation and presentation, but also the courtyard or the public space in the village of Vysoká (SIMECHECK gallery). The opening of the exhibition and other presentations will be part of a one-day contemporary art festival.

We require:
- a brief CV
- a portfolio/commission of work
- a project proposal (the proposal does not have to be detailed, we also accept loose proposals and mind maps supported by a portfolio)

Residency dates:

I. July 13–26 (opening on July 25)
II. September 1–13 (opening on September 12)

Application Deadline March 31, 2026. Submissions and any questions should be sent to opencall@farmstudio.cz. Announcement of results within 30 days of the deadline. We will allow a tour prior to submission.

* Farmstudio reserves the right to adjust the terms of the residency (by agreement) based on the amount of grant support.
