EFC is pleased to announce that applications are now open for its annual Fellowship at Columbia University's Institute for Ideas and Imagination in Paris.


The Fellowship supports one artist, writer, or researcher from Central or Eastern Europe for a full academic year of research, creative work, and interdisciplinary exchange, alongside an international cohort of scholars, artists, and writers at the Institute.


The selected Fellow will spend the 2027–2028 academic year (September 2027 – May 2028) at Reid Hall in Paris, receiving:

  • a $75,000 fellowship stipend
  • a private office at the Institute
  • administrative and research support
  • access to Columbia University's libraries and research resources in Paris and across Europe
  • the opportunity for sustained engagement with an exceptional international community of fellows


For the EFC, this Fellowship reflects our commitment to strengthening the arts and humanities in Central and Eastern Europe by advancing international collaboration, intellectual exchange, and long-term creative development.
