Art and Bitcoin: International Open Call is looking for an original artwork exploring the theme of the digital currency Bitcoin. An opportunity for artists working in all media.

Foundation for Contemporary Art Prague and Jednadvacet.org announce an international open call. Initiator of the competition is Czech Bitcoin community Jednadvacet.org. Although Bitcoin did not originate in the Czech Republic, it took shape to a significant extent there – the first hardware wallet was developed here, as was the very first mining pool, etc.

"The work we are looking for need not contain code, run on a blockchain, or be digital at all. Bitcoin may enter it as raw material, as narrative, as environment, as a new rule of the game, as the worth of open systems, or as a social experiment. It may arrive as painting, object, film, sound, text, speculative fiction, choreography, public intervention, or participatory ritual. (...) The work can be carried out under the open licence provided, which is not merely a technical detail, but also part of Bitcoin’s culture of openness: the ability to verify, share, build on the work of others, and create something that no single person owns and that anyone can continue to develop."

Prizes: 5 finalists, each 21.000 CZK

95.000 CZK on top for the winner to finalize the documentation and for an open licence. Estimated budget for the subsequent realization up to 1.000.000 CZK.
