1939–2021: Konec černobílé doby
26. 05. 2023 - 30. 06. 2030
Národní galerie Praha, Veletržní palác / Praha 7
The Young Art Show Rooms will take place, as is traditional, in November, and so we are once again looking for works that capture a moment of change, surprise, uncertainty, or a turning point, and show what can happen when things take a different direction. This year’s theme is Twist.
Requirements:
– Only entire studios or student collectives may apply. Individual applications are not accepted, but collaborations across studios are permitted.
– Projects must reflect the theme Twist. The common theme serves as a unifying framework for the exhibition and as initial inspiration for conceptualizing your installations. However, how you relate to it is entirely up to you. We are looking for new projects that correspond to the site-specific nature of the exhibition and that will interpret the assigned room as a whole.
Applications for the open call are submitted via the online application form. A mandatory part of the application is a text description of the proposed project, including visualizations. The deadline for applications is October 16, 2026.
The organizer will provide a financial contribution for each room. Unfortunately, due to the large number of exhibitors, we are unable to cover the full cost of installation; but every year we ask all schools to support their students; therefore, please inquire well in advance about funding options with the leadership of your studios or, if applicable, with the vice-rectors.
The exhibition spaces offer exhibitors a unique opportunity to present their work to the general public in the center of Prague while still in school. This year, the exhibition will once again feature not only exhibitors from across the Czech Republic but also those from abroad. In addition, a special program will be organized for all exhibitors, focused on deepening professional knowledge as well as exchanging experiences and ideas to help improve study conditions at art colleges.
As in previous years, the jury prize and the audience choice award will be announced during the exhibition. The three rooms selected by the expert jury and the winners of the audience choice award will each receive a cash prize of 10,000 CZK.
Installation: November 6–12, 2026
