An interactive walking tour of Brno along a trail featuring an audio guide, which combines artistic and anthropological perspectives to explore various ways of transforming, using, and sharing public space through gardening or similar interventions.

Here you’ll find a variety of locations—from inner courtyards to public spaces in front of a department store or between a tram track and the sidewalk, a railway viaduct and its surroundings, a solitary hollow tree stump in a park, the area around a railroad track, or, conversely, a contiguous area on the outskirts of a housing estate.

The project’s authors analyze these sites and, through a wide range of media, shed light on them and the diverse motivations of the “gardening interventionists,” while carrying out some of the interventions themselves.

The project involved an interdisciplinary team of social anthropologists (Anastasia Blochina and Hana Drštičková), artists (Lucia Bergamaschi, Nela Maruškevičová, Kateřina Konvalinová, Barbora Lungová, Polina Davydenko), and architects (Iva Balcaříková).

You can find the audio tour at socialmaps.app.
