Pavol Truben presents fictional reconstructions of historical processes, situations, and projections of the future in his work, focusing on the circumstances surrounding the emergence of new, myth-forming narratives. Through simulated media archaeology and artistic mystification, he tells stories about the forms of collective imagination and the shaping of visuality, which becomes the foundation of shared narratives. Truben analyzes the role of images in interpreting reality as well as in constructing possible worlds, inviting us to reflect on the circumstances of myth-making, which unfolds between the spectrum of an anticipated catastrophe and a dreamt-of utopia.
Real animals such as the wolf and the rabbit, as well as mythical creatures such as the ouroboros and the leviathan, become, within the contexts examined and reimagined by the author, actors in both symbiotic and predatory relationships, bearers of symbolic values, shifting cultural associations, and anthropocentric projections. The imagination associated with the animal kingdom thus opens up possibilities for the intermingling of reality and fiction and for creative movement on the border between the categories of nature and culture.
