Galerie Kaple is housed in a Renaissance building from 1611, which initially served as a horse riding stable, a lazarette and a prison chapel, where the grass Marysha, the main character of the play by the Mrštík brothers, is said to have served her sentence. The building was used as a warehouse and gradually fell into serious disrepair and was threatened with complete demolition. Rescue was found in the form of European funds and today, together with the former Baroque granary, it forms the rear courtyard of Žerotín Castle with a rest area. In 2008, its reconstruction was awarded the Building of the Year award of the Zlín Region. The clean and majestic space with its unmistakable atmosphere is best suited for the presentation of contemporary visual art. Today, the space of the Chapel is intended for the presentation of the best of the Czech contemporary art scene.

The total area of 300 m² consists of the main space of the chapel (19 × 9 m), a cloister, two basement levels and a lounge. The Chapel Gallery is exclusively dedicated to the organisation and presentation of solo exhibitions by artists who express themselves through different media: painting, sculpture, video, installation, photography or performance. It offers them a space to present their latest projects and allows them to experiment with the space. The gallery is not engaged in collection activities or participates in any international exhibitions. It has the ambition to create a cultural institution of a longer-term nature with occasional overlaps into the international scene. In the short time of its existence it has become one of the most important galleries of the Zlín Region. The gallery's schedule usually includes 6 bi-monthly exhibitions per year.

The intention is to equally distribute the interest among artists and artists and especially among all artistic disciplines, starting with painting, sculpture, photography, concept, installation and new media. The exhibitions and openings are linked to the cultural programmes of the entire cultural establishment housed in the Žerotín Chateau, with other genres such as theatre, music and dance. This creates multi-genre blocks whose cultural impact increases the attractiveness and broadens the range of socio-cultural activities in the city. The Kaple Gallery in Valašské Meziříčí wants to function as a living organism, which is constantly renewing itself and attracting the public to new things.
