Drawing on years of experience and an intimate knowledge of his materials, Peter Demek (b. 1980) creates objects operating within the context of unit, context, and their subsequent manipulation in time. There is a certain recurring motif within the process of looking for ideal forms, namely form abstracted in the flash of intuition from the fusion of the surrounding world, materialised with an emphasis on the physical property of the material, thrown into an environment – the necessary presence of the conduit and manipulated by the performative act – by the one-off transformation or mechanical movement in time. The entire process represents the embodying of ideal form, which is always somehow behind the visible, by means of its compression or dissipation. The artist will introduce a series of new works that will be activated in the gallery during the opening.
