This exhibition presents a video project that deals with the often invisible work associated with the care of art estates, based on the doctoral research of curator Petra Widžová, which she has been conducting at the Faculty of Art and Design at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem since 2023. Through intimate portraits of the caretakers, the videos reveal the nature of the work, the daily duties and the emotional investment involved in managing art estates. The exhibition looks at the limits of stewardship: physical, mental, spatial, institutional, and addresses the question of the future of these cultural legacies. How long to preserve them and what is actually the most important thing about them?

Four artist videos combine the form of narrative, portrait and documentary in a gallery format, featuring the caretakers of four artistic legacies and future artistic legacies: Martina Zetova (the estate of Miloš Zet), Jana Písaříková (the care of Jiří Valoch), Katerina Trlifajová and Magdalena Plíšková (the estate of Pavel Brázda and Věra Nováková), and the team of Vasulka Kitchen Brno (the legacy of Steina and Woody Vasulka). The aim of the videos is to highlight the persons and activities of the trustees and administrators on whose energy and time the management of artistic estates is based and who determine its future fate and development. However, they themselves remain hidden behind the legacies of the great names of the Czech art scene.

The videos are based on a sociological and feminist perspective of thought that draws attention to the issue of so-called "invisible labour". At the same time, they ask how to tell stories of the everyday, how to talk about tasks, administration, financial peripeteia, decision-making processes - in short, everything that goes into good estate administration?
