We invite you to a site-specific evening at Čistírna 1906 dedicated to the documentary Forms of a Loving Relationship with the World —a film about the artist Miloš Šejn, who enters the landscape with his body and dissolves his own ego within it. Following the screening, there will be a performance by Miloš Šejn accompanied by a live set by Oliver Torra, the composer of the film’s soundtrack.

The film avoids a biographical portrait “from the artist’s life” and delves beneath the surface of what is seen. An observational camera follows Miloš Šejn during his artistic actions in the landscape. In the mud, in the water, on a rock, in the breath, and in the silence—combined with bold editing and immersive music—it crafts a physical audiovisual experience. The film is not a narrative about the artist, but an attempt to let the viewer experience the world as he perceives it: in the present moment and with a detailed perception of what is around us right now.

The documentary interweaves observational footage of Šejna’s performances with his own archival video art, created since the 1960s. This brings to the surface the essence of an individual’s ecstatic creative activity, while also raising the question of where the boundaries of madness lie and just how varied the forms of love and the knowledge of the ultimate truth—death—can be.

For director Jakub Kučera, this marks his feature-length debut. He has long been involved in documentary filmmaking about the visual arts, collaborating with ČT art and the Artyčok TV platform, which co-produced the film and for which he has shot portraits of Veronika Bromová and Jan Uličný, as well as a video series in collaboration with Eva Koťátková. Director Klára Tasovská served as the film’s dramaturg.

Miloš Šejn (*1947) is one of the most prominent figures in Czech intermedia and performance art. In 1991, he was appointed professor of painting, and from 1990 to 2011 he led a studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. He has been a visiting artist at academies in Aix-en-Provence, Carrara, The Hague, Ljubljana, Stuttgart, and Vienna. Since the 1990s, he has led the international multidisciplinary project Bohemiae Rosa, focused on researching the relationship between the human body and place. He does not view the landscape as a subject, but as a source of creativity and as a real studio.
