Pragovka Gallery invites you to the closing event of the residency and the presentation of the project The Brass Section resident artist Ioana Gheorghiu.

With the project The Brass Section, Ioana Gheorghiu builds on her previous work, in which she has long focused on material research. In this project, she further develops this approach through new material experiments set within the local context. She focuses on brass dust generated during key duplication and explores its potential to catalyze broader discussions on pressing issues related to connection, care, and social bonds.

The routine of collecting brass scraps becomes a kind of solace for a fragmented and divided society, a poetic narrative of people coming together, as reflected in this mechanical activity—particles that make it possible to open doors throughout the city. When viewed closely enough, these tiny sculptural brass particles transform into celestial bodies, intricate jewelry, or otherworldly architecture.

The Brass Section thus invites the viewer to reevaluate the current possibilities of coexistence—to seek space for quiet voices, build new connections, and celebrate diversity. Through a material that would otherwise go unnoticed, the artist demonstrates that even the smallest fragments can hold the potential for social transformation.
