The exhibition Romantic Landscape in Intaglio presents works by contemporary artists whose intaglio prints explore themes of Romanticism, landscape, and space, the connection between landscape and our consciousness, and the search for unity within the paradox of our separate subjectivity and the silent infinite. Intaglio printmaking techniques speak to the tension at the point where our inner and outer worlds meet, to the silence of horizons, rocks, trees, rivers, and the meandering forms of nature. Silence becomes so significant that it creates a new way of communication, a new kind of experience, and an awareness of the need to protect and care for the landscape as a part of ourselves.
