Červený Kostelec will be all about folklore in August. We’re adding a touch of punk to the mix. As part of the accompanying program for the 72nd International Folklore Festival, KUNSTFABRIK invites you to a gathering at the exhibition Rostislav Novák – Dangerous Places.

You can look forward to a guided tour focusing primarily on Novák’s wild 1980s—the era of the unofficial “Konfrontace” events, the pseudonym Pavel Host, the Academy of Fine Arts, and the generation that gave rise to many key figures in contemporary Czech art. Rostislav Novák and curator Martin Dostál will guide you through the exhibition.

And there will also be a book launch. The exhibition is accompanied by a special catalog in the form of the periodical MADNEWS—a paper trail of the painter whose work embodies an explosion of obsession, joy, defiance, and punk. And whose paintings waited for many years in the attic in Sádek, in the company of bats, before returning to the public.
