Scent of outside

Installation and works presented at the exhibition “Scent of outside” come from a kind of artistic dialogue between two artists, Ján Valík and Akiko Ueda throughout their meeting and 6 week long artist-in-residency programme at Centre of art Kvilda at Šumava. During the period they worked parallel near surrounding landscape, yet their works did not melt into collaborative one, but rather kept close, yet distinguished features of autonomy to their own exploring. At Atelier Síň they adjusted their works and installation within site-specific context of place and its genius loci. 

Scent of outside

We do not feel it solely outside, rather we feel it in a moment of moving from inside towards out. Like opening windows to space, our lungs know something was locked and lacked. This is the expectation they are filled with. It is fairly possible to reign in one kingdom which we built by our own. But it is also possible to just leave from there. Apart from that one which is sweet.
