Štěpán Brož is painter and illustrator. He grew up on the periphery of Prague, which inspires him in his digital paintings and graphics. He graduated at the Studio of Illustration and Graphics at UMPRUM in Prague, lead by Juraj Horváth. He draws comics, posters for gigs and left-wing activistic events, covers and merchandise for bands he listens to. At school he drew horses, a strange story from the gasoline between Louny and Most ( Za Martou tma / There’s Darkness Behind Marta, Kudla Press, 2015), trucks going through the landscape, musicians from local radio stations…

Two years ago he discovered oil painting. Since that moment he‘s been developing his painting skills intensively. He continues his studies at Studio of Painting lead by Vasil Artamanov at FAVU in Brno. He painted Dark Medieval Times series where he connected his love for metal music, Middle Ages and landscape painting.

For his exhibition in Xao he developed this series - less dark, but with green goblins and the impression of happy feelings. Štěpáns work reflects his sense of humour and sympathies for folk and genre art.

Exhibition will last until January 15th2019.
