What does the "Power of Life" encompass? The dynamics of nature, its organic structures, constant movement and transformation—but also the human capacity for empathy and responsibility for the world we share.

The exhibition The Power of Life at the Ladislav Sutnar Gallery presents the work of the winners of the Jiří Trnka Award and guests of this year’s international symposium on illustration and animation. Colorful, poetic, and thought-provoking illustrations raise questions about our roots, our relationship with nature, and the place we occupy in the world.

Among this year’s laureates are Italian illustrator Beatrice Alemagna, Mexican illustrator Juan Palomino, and Munich’s Internationale Jugendbibliothek, an international library specializing in children’s and young adult literature. Their work will be complemented by that of other symposium guests: the Ukrainian art studio AGRAFKA, David Böhm, Hungarian animator Lucy Tóth, Kateřina Coufalová, Michaela Dušková, Slovak artist Miloš Kopták, Japanese illustrator Saki Matsumoto, Tereza Říčanová, and Filip Tatýrek.

The exhibition offers an encounter with diverse forms of contemporary illustration and shows how images can tell stories about the world, its transformations, and our relationship to it.
