Two systems are placed in relation. Where they meet, a third condition emerges — one that belongs to neither, and could not exist without both.

Interference presents the latest works by Tomáš Polcar, in which spatial and visual orders collide. Polcar’s practice develops in long-term cycles, treating motifs not as subjects to be represented, but as structures placed under pressure until their original identity begins to shift.

Geometry functions here not as a fixed boundary, but as a vector of tension. Direction becomes a formative principle: forms gather toward a point of compression before expanding outward again, as if space itself were passing through a moment of singularity. The work balances on the edge of macrocosmic order and material entropy.

What appears precise is permeated by instability. What seems abstract carries the memory of matter and time. Order does not precede the work — it is forged entirely from contact.

Tomáš Polcar (*1973) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague between 1991 and 1998 under Hugo Demartini, Aleš Veselý, and Milan Knížák. His practice frequently explores cyclical phenomena and the structural essence of matter. He lives and works in Slavětín nad Ohří.
