On Thursday, March 12, 2026, the Rudolfinum Gallery in Prague will host the accompanying programme of the Ukrainian National Pavilion at the 61st International Art ExhibitionLa Biennale di Venezia - display of The Origami Deer (2019) sculpture by Ukrainian artist Zhanna Kadyrova in front of the Rudolfinum building (more information here). We would also like to invite you to the accompanying events.

From 18:00 you can look forward to a screening of a short documentary filmIDP (directed by Zhanna Kadyrova, 2025, 28'28''), which depicts the evacuation of the statue from Pokrovsk, followed by a discussion with Zhanna Kadyrova and Leonid Marushchak.

The documentary IDP tells the story of the evacuation of the Origami Deer statue by Zhanna Kadyrova, which was created in 2019 for the Jubilee Park in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region. It was dismantled and moved out of the city on Friday, August 30, 2024, amid the ongoing war. The film depicts the dismantling process, eyewitness accounts and the symbolic significance of this event, which occurred during the forced evacuation of the local population. This is not just the story of the statue - it is a story of loss, displacement and the struggle to preserve cultural heritage in a time of war.

At 7:00 p.m.we will host a conversation with philosophy and visual culture researcher Isabella Jacobs and public program co-curator Ivanna Kozachenko on Morphological Materialism in the Soviet Union, with a focus on the Ukrainian setting.

Both events will take place at Café Rudolfinum (entrance via the Rudolfinum Dvorana). Admission is free. The program will be in English.

About the artist

Zhanna Kadyrova is a Ukrainian artist whose work focuses on the theme of Russian aggression against Ukraine. She is also known for her sculptures, installations and projects that explore urban spaces. She is the winner of the Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian National Prize in Fine Arts (2025), winner of the first Her Art Prize founded by Marie Claire France and Art Paris magazine (2025), winner of the PinchukArtCentre Prize (2013) and the Kazimir Malevich Prize (2012). She lives and works in Kiev. In the spring of 2024, she presented her work to the Czech audience in a monographic exhibition at the Rudolfinum Gallery entitled UNEXPECTED.
