When God Was Not Looking... is the title of an exhibition of black and white photographs from a country that no longer exists. Three members of 400ASA – Antonín Kratochvíl, Karel Cudlín and Jan Mihaliček – photographed Nagorno-Karabakh at the end of the last millennium. Each at a different time, in a different place, in a different situation and each with their own unique perspective. The photographs thus show war, refugees, but also the post-war reconstruction of the country in rare moments of peace. As a whole, the exhibition speaks of the senselessness of war and, above all, of the greatest victim of any armed conflict – the ordinary person.
