Bosnian artist Šejla Kamerić is well-known for her chilling and iconic Bosnian Girl, a work which confronts the identity of the artist with the individual responsibility of Dutch soldiers during the Srebrenica massacre. It wasn’t just the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the terrible events that prompted the exhibition of the hour-long 1395 DAYS WITHOUT RED, a film essay which follows a distinguished woman through the empty streets of occupied Sarajevo, in constant fear of Serbian snipers. It was a great honour for the etc. gallery (located thematically on Sarajevo Street) to exhibit the emotional artwork which oscillates between “documentary” reconstruction and personal testimony.
