Anna Banytiuk (*2001) studied graphic design at Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Art. Since 2022, she has been studying in the Drawing Studio with Alice Nikitina and Matej Smetana at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. She has participated in group and solo exhibitions. She participated in the comic book When It Began (AVU, 2024), a collaborative work of Ukrainian artists at the AVU.
In her work she is proficient in painting, pastel and charcoal drawing and numerous graphic techniques, which she often combines. He works expressively, capturing the atmosphere of scenes in color. Her themes are based on memories of her childhood and Ukraine, where she left in 2022 after the outbreak of war. She captures everyday scenes – trains, flats, schools, interiors – and gives them an expressive dimension through the deformed space. The environment is melancholic and plays a key role.
