Antonín Střížek’s (*1959) solo exhibition presents a cross-section of his paintings, drawings, and photographs from recent years, with an emphasis on his current artistic direction. Nocturnal city scenes, balladic, desolate landscapes, interiors stripped down to their essence, large-scale floral still lifes, and memories of old pay phones offer a glimpse into the artist’s distinctive inner world, which feels so familiar to viewers that it is as if they were living intimately alongside him. 

Střížek, who belongs to the “founding” generation of the new wave of painting from the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, has developed a unique, neorealist style of expression, drawing on his rich experience with the postmodern art of that era.
