Barbora Dohnalová is a painter who found her distinctive artistic path while studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the Painting III studio under the guidance of Professor Michael Rittstein. She finished her studies in 2018. Since the beginning, painting has been a sense of life for her and a constant inner urge to create. Her work focuses mainly on acrylic painting on canvas and illustration.
Her work is characterized by a distinctive stylization oscillating between realism and illustrative aesthetics. The paintings display an atmosphere of dreams and subtle emotions, blending nostalgia, feminine sensitivity and playfulness with unexpected details. The work with light and strong contrasts plays an important role.
The selection of paintings for the exhibition thematically represents mainly architecture and landscape, into which the artist enters with subtle elements of the supernatural. These motifs create quiet, slightly unsettling situations balancing between reality and fantasy. The carefully chosen colour palette helps to evoke a specific atmosphere and emphasises the fragility of the worlds depicted. The author strives to draw the viewer into the action, to induce calm and leave room for dreaming.
