Brutalist architecture and design from the 1960s to the 1980s have left an indelible mark on the streets of Prague. However, many of these traces have been irrevocably disappearing in recent years. An exhibition at the Design Museum Prague preserves these fragments and tells their story before they turn to dust.

Part of the exhibition, for example, is the Transgas Phantom, a rare decorative element from the staircase of the legendary Transgas complex, which was demolished in 2019. Today, it is one of the few surviving fragments of a building that defined Prague’s Brutalism. Also on display will be a unique concrete armchair designed by Olbram Zoubek in the 1970s for the now-defunct café U Zlatého hada. 

The exhibition is organized by Design Museum Prague in collaboration with the Nanovo project.
