The exhibition Cancel Culture? presents a selection of works by the painter Hynek Martinec from the private collection of Milan Hůlek.
The exposition offers a view of the artist's works, which are not usually accessible to the public, highlighting his ability to connect the virtuosity of classical painting with urgent contemporary questions. Martinec's canvases and drawings are characterized by extraordinary technical precision, a deep knowledge of art history, and the capacity to address themes of identity, memory, and time.
Hynek Martinec (*1980) is among the most prominent Czech artists with an international reach. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the studio of Prof. Zdeněk Beran and completed study stays in London and New York; in 2007, he received the prestigious BP Young Artist Award at the National Portrait Gallery in London. His work is represented in major collections worldwide. The Náchod exhibition carries a strong regional accent – bringing the native of nearby Broumov back to his home region with international renown and a mature painterly style.
