An unexpected fusion of mermaid motifs with the rural element of the pink potato forms the theme of this site-specific installation. The artist explores moments of fluid identity and the paradox of sexist or queerphobic behavior among individuals who belong to the LGBT+ community yet reject queer identity or its broader context.

Jurrie Charvátů is a student in the Painting Studio at the Faculty of Fine Arts (FaVU) at BUT in Brno; their long-term work focuses on queer themes, drawing on fairy-tale symbolism, folklore, and life in the Czech countryside.
