KAROLINA ROSSI: Submersion Lesson
For her solo exhibition at Jedna Dva Tři Gallery, Karolina Rossi prepared a project based on a series of aquarelle collages and large-scale paintings, set in architecturally altered space. The footing for a stroll through the authors’ sources of inspiration is presented by a seabed rather than the asphalt of the city. Impacts are muffled, walking almost becomes floating. Light, water, colors and crimped contours are essential. Abstract morphology with sporadic reminders of the world above the surface of the water, reminders that are perfectly assimilated into the new context. Taking another look, a determined one, one free of civilization´s achievements, the glance of the bare eye. The reflection on the water´s surface can be of what we hold within, without the necessity of too much esoteric examination. Taking notice of what´s truly present along the way, of what is of substance. I believe that is the lesson of the author on submersion.
