Kit Reisch (* 1986) was born in Texas (USA) but now lives and works in Prague. He combines real objects in his work and situates them in artificially created contexts. Mixing objects and digital media he creates works that exist in a fictitious reality. He experiments with how far he can change the object without changing it so much that it can no longer be recognised as what it was. Kit Reisch works with a kinetic sculpture, with a light that creates architectural shadows on the wall. Visual and verbal language shape the attitudes of a particular place. In this way, architecture, perhaps the most accessible form of visual language, has been introducing itself into his work. Cleansing Light is an installation containing shadows of both specific and generalized architectural elements of the city of Prague. The installation displays the moving-imagery of dreams and memories of a city. The images are never exactly in focus, nor are they correct in terms of size and scale. A moving light changes the shadow shapes, elongating and shrinking them, just before they disappear into deep memory.
