Mark Ther, Czech artist and winner of the Jindřich Chalupecký Prize, presents an exhibition at the Opava House of Arts in which he focuses on the historical coexistence of two different cultures and their interconnected, culturally enriching coexistence. In the work, the artist reflects on the issue of the displacement of Germans and its cultural sedimentation in Czech society.

The exhibition concept, prepared in the context of the anniversary of the displacement of Czech, Silesian and Moravian Germans from Czechoslovakia, transforms the current exhibition space of the House of Arts into a cultural salon from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. However, it always does so with a sensitive and sometimes anxious conflict between fantasy and normative reality. He has incorporated works by well-known and lesser-known artists of German nationality from Opava and its surroundings, mainly from the collections of the Museum in Bruntál and the Municipal Museum in Krnov. With this specific installation, the author connects his own work and family roots with the exhibition of forgotten landscapes of Broumov and Silesia.
