An exhibition with a salon atmosphere is a shelter for sleep-addled boys in beautifully blooming meadows. The scenery for rest is completed by the fabric draperies of the cosy room or the dragonfly sculpture, which you would rather expect to see displayed in a showcase or covered in dust on the bedside table. The only unexpected observers of sleep are a stray curious hen and the visitor himself. The characters, oblivious to their surroundings, seem to invite themselves to approach and ask: Are you asleep?

There is no wrong answer, each version of which suggests that the interviewee is not engaged in the activity at all and certainly not performing it during the answer. But what if the interviewee doesn't get the sweet word in his ear? Has the lying person fallen into a well-deserved slumber, or into rest for eternity?

Mark Ther traditionally seeks out the extraordinary phenomena of everyday life. Although he himself likes to reconstruct a time he did not experience, he draws from historical narratives grotesquely poetic paradoxes and hidden details that reveal more than a specific time the enduring states of human nature.
