The kitchen as an archetypal space of the home, a safely familiar space where life follows the predictable rhythm of minor tasks. Where the table, chairs, and glasses all have their place. But something is off. From outside, watching through the fogged-up windowpanes, we observe how someone is disrupting the established order. The presence of an uninvited guest – along with sharp and dangerous objects and a delicate yet poisonous autumn crocus – hints at the darker side of everyday life and suggests that, behind the reality of ordinary phenomena and situations, something remains over which we have no control. Nikola Kopp Lorková’s exhibition Uninvited Guest explores the themes of uncertainty, vulnerability, and vague danger that have been seeping through today’s seemingly orderly and rationalized world.
