The exhibition by Ondřej Vavrečka is based on the three phases of the alchemical process. Nigredo signifies blackness, decay, and death. Albedo is whiteness, sorting, and purification. Rubedo is redness. It comes at the moment when the disintegrated and sorted parts come together again—but not as they were before. Rather, in a different way.

The exhibited paintings are created from metal waste, primarily alcohol packaging. After consumption, what remains is sheet metal, a cap, foil, a piece of metal. Objects with no further purpose. These are taken apart, sorted, cut, and reassembled. It is not a matter of replacing old material with new. What is new is the relationship between the parts. From the same material, a different form emerges—and with it, something that did not exist before.
