The exhibition of three painters – Michal Ožibek (*1981), Aleš Brázdil (*1983) and Pavel Samlík (*1988) is a case study of the state of contemporary Czech descriptive painting, whose hyperrealistic or naturalistic starting points are gradually transformed into a reflection of desacralized vision and perception.

Binding the image to a static photograph, documentary or various forms of moving image (film, video) reveals new expressive worlds in the realm of peripheral themes associated with the partial aura of the seen. The perfect whole within the pictorial format is always a mere section of an elusive, abstract and therefore blurred space-time continuum, which is suspended in its constant dynamic transformation. Space, and with its figure, object states and spatial frames, are cut out as focused specimens in which pulsates the restlessness associated with the mystery of so-called objective vision.

In recognizable details one feels secure. But when the details mirror indeterminate or anonymous visual sources, a chimera of anxiety about one's own, albeit more beautiful, sensual phenomena creeps into the picture. The gaze silently searches for what and why to anchor its experience. In its wake, painter and viewer together search the illusion of suspended space, as if anatomically examining it in the principle of its phenomenal essence, as well as in its spatiotemporal distortions and coloristic shifts.
