Galerie Sýpka will present an exhibition by Šimon Vahala entitled On the Frequency of Butterfly Wings, which presents the artist's current painting work focused on quiet observation of everyday life.

Vahal's work focuses on seemingly ordinary motifs – things, people or flowers – which the artist captures in their simple yet intensely experienced presence. Through simple composition and a sketchy, expressively spare handwriting, he is able to capture the character of what he depicts and the subtle nuances of a fleeting moment. His paintings are not descriptive, but open up a space for the perception of detail, atmosphere and inner mood.

A specific feature of Vahal's work is the silence that the works exude. It is not a silence of expectation, but a space in which meaning is not formulated in words. The viewer is led to concentrated perception and to capture subtle phenomena – the "frequency" on which small, often overlooked moments of reality take place. It is this sensitivity to the subtle and ephemeral that forms the basis of the artist's visual language.
