The exhibition STATEMENT is a record of one semester of work in the Photographic Activities Studio (Pracownia Działań Fotograficznych), which is jointly run by Dominika Sadowska and Paweł Giza at the Institute of Photography and Multimedia at the W. Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. When working with students, an important aspect for both of them is when artistic practice ceases to be a mere production of images and objects and becomes a way of testing the relationship between the subject and the world - a space in which one can examine, question and redefine one's own place. At the same time, they ask questions about the functioning of photography in the visual arts. They are interested in the medium of photography as an autonomous language of expression and are concerned with it in relation to the object, space, text, textiles or the digital environment. The photographic image is often a starting point - an impulse that leads towards action, processes and the revelation of the conditions of its creation.
