Mixing new with older work, this exhibition of Suzanne Pastor, multimedia artist, photographer, co-founder and first director of Prague House of Photography, meditates with humor and wisdom on the photographic medium and its place in the world.   Suzanne Pastor (*1952), an American of German origin, has made Prague her home since 1990.  A series of photograms, assemblages and glass books offer a unique perspective on the art of photograph.

Ode to the dumpling

So brave, like flattened soldiers,

they rest on your plate…

How many can you eat?

Dull little planetary islands,

neutral, tasteless, colorless,

they await the glorification of gravy,

meat, cabbage, plum, apricot, strawberries,

cheese, poppyseed, sour cream,

powdered sugar, like the snow of princesses.

Anything to avoid the fact that they are there,

useless as a fax machine,

presenting a faceless caloric life,

a silent death of teeth, mashing and gnashing.

Inspect your life,

do you need it, the dumpling?

Death to the dumpling,

death to the dull dull dull life of the dumpling.
