The current retrospective exhibition of the Vladimír Boudník Prize winners, staged at the Colloredo-Mansfeld Palace to mark the award´s twentieth anniversary, pays tribute to the creative legacy of an artist who transformed the art of printmaking into a laboratory for experimentation and elevated it to an expression of the avant-garde movement. It was thanks to him that in the early 1960s printmaking asserted itself as an art medium in its own right, and raised a mighty wave of interest among artists thus far not directly involved in printmaking – painters and sculptors – who, “uninhibited” by previous contact with the medium, came to contribute new concepts and experiments.
