The exhibition The Cut Worm Forgives The Plow II. presents a series of paintings first shown in 2025 as part of the exhibition The Marriage of Heaven and Hell – William Blake and His Contemporaries, at the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest.

At its core are works conceived as a dialogue between William Blake and Mike Nylons, another of the many alter egos of Lőrinc Borsos. The artists intervene in Blake’s visionary images with black geometric signs, seeking new relationships within the original compositions that evoke an occult variation on Trinitarian symbolism.

In his own paintings, Mike Nylons offers a more raw vision of a posthuman future built from loose drawings, pop-cultural references, graffiti aesthetics, and the symbolism of late capitalism. The exhibition brings together Blake’s visual and poetic imagination, religious and mythological motifs, contemporary visual culture, and the notion of chaos as a creative force.

Lőrinc Borsos is a fictional artistic identity created and developed since 2008 by Lilla Lőrinc (*1980) and János Borsos (*1979). Their practice, grounded in the deconstruction of traditional artistic strategies, and informed by collective and para-institutional approaches, builds upon the conceptual legacy of the Hungarian neo-avant-garde while opening it up to contemporary technological and media transformations. Their activities also encompass collective projects, artistic and musical events, alternative pedagogical initiatives, and community-based programmes connected to art quarter budapest (aqb).
