Zbyněk Sedlecký (born in 1976 in Ostrava) belongs to the powerful painting generation emerging on the Czech art scene at the turn of the Millennium.

In 1995-1998 he studied at the Brno FaVU (Prof. Jiří Načeradský) and in 1998-2002 at the Prague AVU (Prof. Jiří Sopko). In 2000, he was staying at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Stuttgart and in 2003 at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerp. Sedlecky was  included into the context of contemporary art, for example, in the projects Artnow.cz (2003, Manes Gallery, Prague), Resetting. Jiné cesty k věcnosti (2007-08, GHMP, Prague), when participating in a long-term exposition  Po sametu (2009-13, GHMP, Prague), or  in the Liverpool biennial (2010), and in the project of Česko! Ein Tanz (2011, HangART, Salzburg).

Last exhibitions of Sedlecky were held in Crocus Gallery in Bratislava (2014), in Vyšehrad Gallery in Prague (the  exhibition Židle, stojan a model v bílé košili… 2015) and in Topič Salon in  Prague (Tady a později, 2015).

In his current paintings the author reflects the compressed relationship of space and time to the nature, the possibilities and the capacity of human memory with its ability to reconstruct the past only to a certain extent.
