The work of Zdeněk Mézl (1934–2016) is known to several generations of readers mainly thanks to his illustrations of books for children and adults. The artist was inspired by the past both thematically and stylistically, with the art of antiquity, the Middle Ages, Mannerism and the Baroque as his models. The exhibition will present visitors not only these illustrations and free graphics, in which Zdeněk Mézl applied the traditional woodcut technique, but also the artist's paintings and sculptures from his later creative period.
