The Prague Biennale Foundation was founded by Helena Konta and Giancarlo Poili in 2004 to organize a biennial world contemporary art show in the Czech Republic called the Prague Biennale. The Prague Biennale and Prague Biennale Photo have earned a worldwide reputation and have been enjoyed by thousands of visitors from all over the world, including very important artists, gallerists, curators, businessmen, politicians, art lovers and collectors. However, the Foundation's main goal is to help Czech artists from different artistic fields, to support the creation of culturally significant works of art and to present them in an international context.

Prague Biennale cooperates intensively in all its artistic and cultural manifestations with the Italian publishing house Giancarlo Politi Editore, publisher of the world-famous international contemporary art magazine Flash Art, and has been publishing its Czech and Slovak edition Flash Art Czech and Slovak Edition since 2006. Director Mgr. Helena Kontová is a member of the associations of the world's biennials, and is thus in close cooperation with other major cultural institutions worldwide.
