The editors of Flash Art Czech & Slovak Edition and Centre for Contemporary Art Prague invite you to a public presentation of the current issue of Flash Art magazine and thematic contributions by Lenka Štěpánková, Petra Widžová and Martina Zetová dealing with the management of art estates. The program will take place on Friday, April 24, at 5:00 pm at Acid Coffee.

Guest and Guest Medallions:

Lenka Štěpánková is an intermedia artist who works primarily with video and painting. Her work explores how male and female artists are represented in their studios today in relation to gender, historical and geopolitical contexts. In doing so, she opens up questions of access, visibility and who enters these spaces and why.

Petra Widžová is a curator, cultural manager and PhD student. Since 2023, she has been conducting doctoral research at the Faculty of Art and Design, UJEP, focusing on artistic legacies in the Czech context. Her practice focuses on collective exhibitions and interdisciplinary curatorial research. In her exhibition project, she focuses on the invisible work associated with the care of art estates and the issues of their preservation, management and future.

Martin Zetová is a Czech artist who works most often with sculpture, performance and multimedia installation. At the UMPRUM in Prague he carried out his doctoral artistic research on the estate of his father, sculptor Miloš Zet (1920-1995). He mainly created realisations for public space and was part of the official culture of the communist Czechoslovakia. Martin continues to take care of his father's legacy and monitor the state of his realisations in public space.

Flash Art CZ/SK No. 79
The death of the artist not only ends his creative career, but also opens the question of what happens to the work, documentation, archive or personal objects he left behind. Who is responsible for ensuring that the legacy of artists and their work remains in the public consciousness for as long as possible? What does working with the estate entail and what are the legal aspects? The spring issue of Flash Art Czech & Slovak Edition No. 79, devoted to this issue, brings interviews with curators, art historians and estate administrators who share their experiences and dilemmas.

The project is implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and the State Fund for Culture of the Czech Republic. We would like to thank you for your support.
