Mardle: Daily Rhythms of a Pond
Sound artist Action Pyramid (Tom Fisher) and acoustic ecologist Jack Greenhalgh discuss the collaborative creation of the album Mardle: Daily Rhythms of a Pond, a compelling and confounding suite of hydrophone compositions revealing the sonic 24-hour cycle of the UK’s freshwater ponds. The talk will expand on the scientific research, methodologies and the interdisciplinary nature of the project, as well as the compositional approach, sonic treatments and other creative considerations of the final sound pieces.
Action Pyramid / Tom Fisher
Tom Fisher is a sound artist and musician based in the marshy edge-lands of North east London. Working under the name Action Pyramid his projects vary from site-specific sound installation and headphone-based works for galleries and museums, to experimental radio works, music and documentary.
Jack Greenhalgh
Jack Greenhalgh is an acoustic ecologist interested in understanding the patterns and processes of soundscapes above and below water. However, his passion is exploring the wonderfully bizarre and mysterious underwater acoustic world of ponds and rivers.
