The 4 + 4 Days in Motion festival presents its fall program of international and Czech theater and dance productions.

The world is changing faster than ever before. Contemporary artists respond not with grand statements, but with personal stories, returns to distant and recent history, or with humor and irony that open up new perspectives on contemporary art and the contemporary world. It is precisely these elements that will tie together this year’s international program of the 4 + 4 Days in Motion festival. Eight international productions will showcase artists whose work has garnered attention at major European and global festivals in recent seasons.

Among the notable guests of this year’s international program is the Palestinian performer living and working in Belgium Marah Haj Hussein. In her award-winning production Language: No broblem, she blends dance, theater, and personal experience in a sensitive exploration of language, identity, migration, and the search for home.

The Belgian company Ontroerend Goed, one of the most prominent representatives of participatory and immersive theater, will present the production Thanks for Being Here.

Also coming to Prague is the Japanese visual performer based in London, Chisato Minamimura. Her work draws on her own experience as a deaf artist and her use of sign language; in the production Scored in Silence, she reflects on the fates of deaf survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Swiss artist Sarah Hugentobler will present the multimedia performance Fuge in HD, which explores the uncertain boundary between the living body, the image, and digitally mediated reality.

Belgian choreographer Lisa Vereertbrugghen will present the dance production Again Forever, in which slow dance becomes a means of intimacy, closeness, and gentle resistance to a world obsessed with speed.

The French-Austrian collective Superamas will present its new performative lecture Denmark: An Ethnographic Performance on Happiness, in which it examines European notions of happiness with ironic detachment.

The program will also feature the local improvisational project Frames and fragments by the Boca Loca Lab.

Another important part of the November program will be the discussion and performance series Dialog (Im)possible, which, through authentic testimonies from artists and curators from Russia, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan, explores the themes of war, exile, censorship, and the transformation of the post-Soviet space.

In late September and early October, as a prologue to this year’s festival, the festival will present a site-specific project by German choreographer Anna Till Impossible Horizons, created as an international co-production between DanceConnected and the 4 + 4 Days in Motion festival.

The exploration of urban space will also be continued by Unreal State by Argentine theater artist Marcos Krivocapich, who explores how algorithms, digital systems, and invisible structures influence our decision-making, behavior, and modes of communication in contemporary cities.

At Vzlet, we will present four performances of the successful production K sobě, which premiered in January 2026 as a co-production of Čtyři dny and DanceConnected, directed by Anna Klimešová and Petr Erbes.

This year’s program brings together projects that, through personal stories, explore themes of memory, language, identity, interpersonal relationships, and societal change. They do not seek definitive answers or simple judgments. Instead, they offer a space for shared experience, dialogue, and new perspectives on the unstable world in which we currently live.

The festival will be centered at Kulturní stanice Galaxie and Vzlet —two former Prague movie theaters that are now among the most important venues for contemporary live art.

In the foyer of the Galaxie Cultural Station, you’ll continue to find Big Bang Bar with a site-specific installation by Krištof Kintera How Can I Help You?.
